SPE Conference/Mentor Meeting/Work

Hi all. It has been a busy weekend. SPE Conference in Portland ME and I was also able to meet with my mentor Caleb Charland and we had a great discussion on my work and where I may be headed. Working on a couple ideas right now. Just ordered some cork board to put up around my walls and tack the images or should we say archive I have built of studies. Currently right now I am working on taping these studies up in my bedroom on my wall until I wait for the cork board to come in. I have a darkroom day planned for Saturday which should be good where I will be making photograms and prints organic matter through the negative carrier to see what kind of images I can get. Really excited. Here are a couple videos of me taping. * this video has not yet been edited and my dog got a hold of a chicken caracas and was eating the bones from it so I got angry with her******

Images of the "completed" wall. Almost all my studies are on this wall but not everything. Was originally going to just make the walls according to certain studies but after a meeting with Alison today I wanted to sit with these all a little more. See how they all react to one another and look at them all each day and maybe rearrange them as the days go by.

Busy Weekend

So I went to the Society for Photographic Educators Conference at MECA this weekend. Unfortunately I did not make it to the Friday day of events and was only able to attend Saturday but it was still great. I reconnected with some old teachers of mine that I admire and met some more photographers. I was a little shy and should not have been but maybe next time I will be a little more social. Great experience non the less.

I also met with Caleb Charland this morning, what a great conversation and direction I feel like I am headed in. Going to put the processing aside.....working on the "file" I have of all these investigations and studies. I am going to dig deeper into this "file" and dissect it more and attack it in multiple photographic avenues.

Here are a couple quick scans from some film I received back this Friday. This week I will be working on setting up some grids of these swatches and photographing them.

Lots of goals, no time, have to get to work.

Reading and writing. Then writing and reading. Then writing and writing and trying to scan and read..........my brain is fried and I am trying to stay focused.

What happening

So this weekend was eventful. I spent a lot of time Saturday driving down to MASS MOCA to be inspired by contemporary art. What a beautiful place, wish I could of spent more time in North Adams but I guess life gets in the way sometimes. I ran my second Half Marathon yesterday and am very proud of myself and my time achieved.
Now....back into the game. I have a long week ahead of me as well. I have a meeting tomorrow with Alison Williams the Dean of Studies and I have the SPE Conference in Portland, ME this weekend along with a meeting with my Mentor Caleb Charland again.  Very excited, very busy, very stressed. Couple things I did today, photograph, print, scan, edit........
I have still been painting and drawing as well....here is an images of a watercolor I started of a tomato.

Here are some images.

This is what I was playing with today. Mold, old veggies with mold, old dried out produce and mixing of emulsions.

Just so you all know.....I have started to draw and paint again. I am currently doing a watercolor....its been over ten years since I have done that! I am making other studies of these vegetables and fruits. I have decided that I am a type of botanist and I am studying these plants along with the fruit they birth for us. This is very exciting for me. I will post a picture later. I am also going to test exposing the beet prints out in the sun a little to see if I can not dull the vibrancy of the color a little bit so that I could use them with my most recent prints which have a more subtle and delicate color. Stay tuned....

Quick Post, Lots of work to do.

Here are some images from todays adventure. I am starting to really process the science behind my studies of these vegetables and I am getting really excited. Tomorrow is going to be a loooooooong day.
Here are some unedited scans from my attempt to capture the leaves falling outside. I have more to scan but here is a taste.

Here are a couple images I took with my phone while working today to document the process.

Here are a couple videos of me working today. Enjoy!
